Knowing closer one of Indonesian traditional house, Mbaru Niang

Indonesia does have a myriad of custom homes. One of them is Mbaru Niang. It is a house with a conical shape and it is made from palm tree fibers that arranged  in such a way to form it. Which is no less unique anymore, this house only has one stanchion in the middle of it. Still talking about the uniqueness, this house has five (5) floors. For the first time I see photos of this house, it seems unlikely that this house has many stories. But after reading from trusted news sources, is true. The ground floor as a residence, while the top floor as a place to put the various supplies that are important to their lives.

This is not an ancient house but the age of this traditional house (Mbaru Niang) is very old. These houses are passed down from ancestors to today's generation. So do not consider that this is a fragile house.

Located at an altitude of 1,100 meters above sea level, the cool air will accompany each of your activities when visiting this place. The particularity of this place is coffee and traditional woven fabric crafts. And from those two things the citizens get a livelihood. Various crops such as yam, taro, and corn also help the survival of the residents. 

HOW TO GET THERE

Starting from Denpasar, Bali, we can continue the trip by air with Air plane NAM towards Frans Seda airport in Maumere. Once you set foot in Maumere, there are three wise choices that can be used to continue the journey. We can take  Oto Col (Trucks modification), car rental / lease, and motorcycles.

The overland trip can take a maximum of 6 hours. Well, after entering the territory Wae Rebo, then your trip closed with a walk for 2-3 hours. Tolerable to burn calories, remember that a healthy lifestyle habit.

As I mentioned earlier, that local people rely on coffee as a source of livelihood one of them. So you intend to bring souvenirs to relatives, buying coffee is the appropriate choice. Do not miss the traditional craft of weaving cloth, as a sweetener appearance of course. Indirectly, through you buy some souvenirs can be added daily income of the residents.
