If you want to visit this place to feel the awesome sensations during here, you have to consider and concern about the tools for the preparation of this place besides the budget and the healthy physic :

• You have to bring and wear special sweater specifically for the cold weather. It is also available if you want to only wear and cover your body with double or triple shirts coincidingly because you will experience the sensation of the totally extreme cold weather. This place can show and gives you the temperature where it is about -10 Celsius degree, and I am sure  it will be enough temperature to make you hard budging and moving , especially for Indonesian People.

• You should also consider to take along with scarf, hat and gloves because those tools can help you to defense yourself from the cold weather during there.

• You must carry lighting devices like flashlight and little lamplight because it will help you when you want to see and watch sunrise in the dawn where it is still dark in that place.

• You should wear mountain shoe because such kind of shoe is totally good for you to protect your sole of foot. As your information, the track of Mountain Bromo cannot be said as the easy one.

• You have to wear masking face to cover up your face, nose and mouth. This equip will protect you from the flying granule of dust blown by the wind that may be able to make your respiratory organs disturbed and to make you hard to breathe. It is advised to bring also glasses and cover up all of your body if your don’t want to get dirt by the dust.

Writer also has said before that you will not only experience the extreme cold weather but also the extreme hot weather. It comes from the sunlight that can burn your skin when you cross over on the sandy land.

For your advice, people who have a weak physic are advised to hire a horse which aims to power saving, so the horse will take you to the climbing stair. Meanwhile, if you ensure to yourself that you have strong physic, please you will enjoy the extensive of the sandy land.

You also will be able to visit and step round to the Pura Luhur Poten Gunung Bromo. This is an annual event that contains of the Yadnya Kasada or Kasodo Ceremony. The event will be held on from the evening until the morning after during the full moon which is around 14/15 in the Kasodo Mounth accorded to the Java calendar. Spirit!

The Accommodations

By Plane.

You will start from the Soetta (Soekarno-Hatta) International Air Port, Jakarta, and after that you will choose one of the air flight agencies to take you to Juanda International Airport, Surabaya (around 20 km southern of Surabaya City). The price for the ticket is around Rp 500.000 and you will arrive safely in the Juanda airport, Amiin. Then, you can directly go to the Purabaya Bus Station, Surabaya to continue your journey to Bayuangga Station, Probolinggo.

The ticket price for the bus is only around Rp 15.000 and it will take you around two half hours to Bayuangga Bus Stasiun. After arriving on Bayuangga Bus Station, you can hire an ELF to take you to Cemoro Lawang area that is the nearest spot to the Bromo Mountain. 

Using this ELF, it will take one hour and the price for the ELF is Rp 65.000 for one person. It would be better if you go along in a group. It is okay for you to go alone, but when you are on Bayuangga, it is suggested to find a group that has the same direction to go along with you to Bromo Mountain area.

• The ticket price for plane from Jakarta to Surabaya = Rp 500.000 (Depending on the air flight agency)

• The ticket price for journey (by bus)  from Surabaya to Probolinggo= Rp 15.000

• The price for hiring ELF = Rp 65.000 for one person.

By Bus.

For you who start the journey from Solo city, Middle Java can take Bus and there are a lot of bus agencies that serve route of bus from Solo to Surabaya. Writer suggests you to take bus agency such as Mira and Eka. If you take Mira, your time will be more efficient and the ticket is also cheap enough, but you will feel less comfortable due the jostling situation with other passengers in the bus. 

However, it would be different story if you take Eka Bus because using this bus agency, you will get much more comfortable situation comparing to Mira Bus.  In the bus, you will not get juggled with other passengers, and even the agency will give you a free food ticket for once consuming. But you have to understand about the ticket of Eka Bus that is more expensive than Mira Bus. 

Nowadays, the normal bus ticket is around Rp 100.000, but you can get the half price if you take bus agency like Mira Bus. Going ahead the journey, it will take you around 7-8 hours from Solo and you will arrive on Purabaya Bus Station, Surabaya. After that, you must change to another bus that has route to Bayuangga Bus Station, Probolinggo (it takes around 2 half hours and the ticket is around Rp 15.000 for one person).

If you want to hire an ELF, you will be able to bargain about the price, but going along in a group is more profitable for you. The price for hiring ELF is around Rp 65.000 for one person with time consuming around 1 hour. You can enjoy and experience of Tengger peak panorama that is totally awesome, even it can make you melted.

By Train.

Your journey will start from the capital city, Jakarta.  You who live in Jakarta and want to enjoy the beauty of Bromo Mountain, you will be able to take train to go there. You can take Bangunkarta train or Bima train for executive class which price around Rp 375.000 for one ticket. For your choice, you can also choose Gaya Baru Malam Train and Jayabaya train for economy class that price Rp 100.000 for one ticket and it will take you around twelve hours to go Gubeng Train Station, Surabaya. 

Then, after you have arrived on Gubeng Train Station, Surabaya, you must take a train again to go Probolinggo Train Station, Probolinggo. The trains that will be able to take you to the Probolinggo Train Station are Mutiara Timur Siang train, Mutiara Timur Malam train, Logawa train, and Sri Tanjung train for business class that prices around Rp 60.000 and it will take you around two hours. 

Having arrived on the Probolinggo Train Station, you can hire ELF or taxi that will be able to take you to Cemoro Lawang and for this transportation, please, prepare your money for Rp 70.000.

• Ticket price for the train from Jakarta to Surabay = Rp 375.000 (Executive); Rp 100.000 (Economy)

• Ticket price for the train from Surabaya to Probolinggo = Rp 60.000 ( Business)

• The price for hiring ELF = Rp 70.000

Those routes above will lead you guys to go to the nearest spot of Tengger Peak and Bromo Mountain. Just for your information, it would be better if you have booked to hire a Jeep that you will use to cross over the extensive sandy land located on Bromo Mountain. Moreover, when you have arrived on Bromo Mountain area, Jeep booked will come to pick you up.

Writer once more suggests you guys that visiting Bromo Mountain in a group is much better and more profitable for you from every aspect. That is it.

You can hire a Jeep for Rp 400.000 ( Depending on the amount of people) which has destiny to go to Sunrise and Penanjakan spots. You must give the extra money for the jeep which is around Rp 100.000-200.000 if you want to visit Savana and "Pasir Berbisik".

The Lodge.

You don’t have to be worried and afraid about the lodge in the Bromo Mountain area because many houses surround there which is available to be hired for a night. There are also many Homestays that you will be able to hire. 

The facility of home stay and citizen house that you hire are totally different because home stay serves you much better facility than citizen house due to the cheaper price that citizen house gives to you.

The price for renting the citizen house a night is around Rp 50.000, while home stay for one room prices around Rp 300.000 a day ( usual day ). Writer gives an advice for you guys who visit this place in a group or with your family to rent a completed set Home stay  ( one house ) which prices around Rp 850.000 a day (usual day).

Different because home stay serves you much better facility than citizen house due to the cheaper price that citizen house gives to you.

The Food.

Commonly, the place where it is mostly cold weather, especially Bromo Mountain is dominated by the warm and hot foods because it can help them to defense themselves from the totally extreme cold night. The citizen usually opens a stall or moves around to sell their foods and usually the foods are Fried Rice, Various Noodle, and other common Javanese foods.

However, the writer will inform you some special foods originated from Bromo area below :

• Nasi Aron. The base ingridient is white corn (originated and only available on mountainside of Bromo Mountain).  It has deliciously oily taste and much longer you eat it, much more delicious this food will be. It would be much better if you add some vegetables like Daun Ranti and also Sea Fish with Terasi chili peppers on it.

• Sawut Kabut Bromo. The base ingredient of this food is Cassava Tree and it is made with the same way of the other regions.

• Iga Bromo. The name of it is Iga Pasir.

Those original foods can be able to be a gift brought back from your trip for family in home. There is also a handicraft made of Edelweis flower.
