Enjoying the wide lake extended about 100 km with
the sprinkle of
the water from the speedy speedboat that cleaves the water, and
the wind blowing, we will feel charmed with the beautiful scenery. Wanna play
Jet Ski? Present.. Wanna play banana boat? You can.. :D

By the height of land which is about 1000 meters
above the sea
level, the weather is so cool just like mountains adorned with
thousands of specific trees of mountains area such a Pine Tree; and also, the
depth of the lake which is approximately about 500 meters does not allow us to
diving.
You will not loss of energy if you visit here or
even stay the night
for exploring everything. But, before you go there are
several things that you must prepare properly for :
Accomodation
For the very first time you have to get ready for
your physical of body well because of the long trip to go to Toba Lake. OK. So, we start from Jakarta by plane. You will
arrive at Kuala Namu Airport, Medan, by the rate starts from 500.000 rupiahs
per person for one way trip. Why? What an expensive rate, isn’t it? Hehee..
That is the standard rate, but if you are smart enough to look for the promo
flight ticket there will be.
Well, there are several choices of transportations
to continue the trip starting from Kuala Namu Airport, such as:
- By plane to go to Silangit Airport, Tapanuli. It will be more efficient in time, effective in energy, and expensive in your budget if you choose it; but, it’s okay if you choose it only once, hehee. After arriving at Silangit Airport, you must shift the transportation by bus or taxi which is approximately about an hour. That’s not such a long trip, right? Just to be true after you arrive there you will enjoy Toba Lake.
- By train. After arriving at Kuala Namu Airport, you can go to Lapangan Merdeka Station for the destination of Pematang Siantar. And then, from Pematang Siantar you can continue the trip by bus or taxi to end the trip going to Toba Lake.. We’re here.. :D
- If you are a true backpacker, you indeed will choose the full trip by bus starting from Kuala Namu Airport, Medan. However, you must get ready for the long trip that will make you feel older, hehee. From Amplas Terminal, you will have the land trip for approximately 6-8 hours to arrive at Perapat City by bus, such as: PMH or ALS bus, by the fare around 50.000 rupiahs. And then, directly you transit by a local transportation there to go to the harbor for about 5000 rupiahs. You will see how beautiful the scenery of Toba Lake is after you arrive there.. Yeeaahh..!!
- By travel or rent a car which the fare starts from 10.000 rupiahs per person, your trip will more enjoy. You can take a rest for a while in the middle of the trip, hehee. And you can directly go to Parapat city or even go to the harbor at Toba Lake.
- The last is you can use taxi rent from Medan directly to Samosir Island. You only need 600.000-800.000 rupiahs (remember that the taxi rent fare is included the fare to the Tomok Harbor).
That’s the several choices I suggest. Just pay
attention to your budget; it must be appropriate, decided it, and then do it.
The route choices above will bring you to Parapat
(the nearest city with Toba Lake), or directly to go to Ajibata Harbor,
Parapat.
Arriving ar Ajibata Harbor, you have to pay ferry
boat ticket about
100.000 rupiahs if you go by your car. It has been included
with the passengers, but it doesn’t be included by accident insurance.
If you want to go through the other alternative way,
you can go through a bridge that connects the North Sumatera with Samosir
Island, that’s Tele Street. From this way, you can enjoy Toba Lake from the
different side :D

Inn
You
don’t have to be hesitate for the inn because Parapat has served some inns
starting from the melati (the name of
Indonesia white flowers) class until the rafflesia
arnoldi (the name of Indonesia specific flower, big orange flower) class,
hehee.. Just suit with your budget because feel the comfort is relative by
different people. For the standard class starts from 300.000 rupiahs you can
have a good time the hotel room or inn with the Toba Lake scenery.
Be
Acquainted with Samosir Island
The island that has the wide almost 1500 km2 is
the important place
when you visit Toba Lake. It has 6 sub districts completely
with the citizens and everything about local art, such as the rituality. So,
this is the right place for you to know the citizen’s daily life there; and
also, you can buy some special souvenirs and handicrafts made from that place.
There is a handicraft called Tenun Ulos (Ulos woven
cloth); its cost reaches until millions rupiahs, depended from the difficulties
how to make it. The other handicrafts are keychain, T-shirt, and several
instrumentals made from wood.

The citizens are also be tourist guide for domestic
and international tourists; as the best as Bali Island, right.. :D
Not only the handicrafts that can be special
souvenirs, but also there is special foods from Javanese food until Chinese
food. You can choose what you like, and remember don’t forget to pay!!
Flora
and Fauna
We have known about accommodation, inn, souvenirs, and culinary food and then.. Yup, flora and fauna!!!
Indonesia has nature like paradise. It’s like a
heaven for unique and scarce flora and fauna and so does the nature of Toba
Lake.

Thousands of mountain floras, like Pine Tree mounted
high to the

- Orangutan
- Ekor Babi Monkey
- Tapir
- Batak Fish
Toba Lake. Although it has terrific history, it has
beautiful scenery
nowadays. Besides, it gives big benefits for all citizens
surrounded it. You will never feel it if you do not visit this place.
